SURFfoundation works with the JISC (UK), DFG (Germany) and DEFF (Denmark) in the Knowledge Exchange partnership. A number of projects have been started in the context of the partnership to create a shared research infrastructure. The following projects have either been completed or have recently started:

  • E-theses
Theses in the three countries that have been enhanced with additional material.
This project was an initial survey of the possibilities and challenges associated with such an approach.
  • CRIS/OAR interoperability
The interoperability of Research Information Systems (CRIS) and repositories is a problem in a number of countries. The aim is to arrive at a common definition of a metadata format, with a vocabulary understood by both systems.
  • Persistent Identifier
This project examines how an international resolver service can be set up on the basis of URN to guarantee that research material can always be traced, even after a lengthy period.
  • Usage Statistics
Making research information publicly accessible will make information easier to trace. Within the current infrastructure, it is not always easy to establish and compare how often material in a repository has been consulted. This project investigates how this information can be collected and compared.
