COAR
SURF is one of the founding members of the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR). This is an internationale collaboration of organisations with a common interest in providing open access to scientific publications. COAR was set up to provide international collaboration leading to a larger visibility and application of research outcomes through a global network of open access digital repositories.
Community of repositories
COAR was set up following on the European DRIVER-project (Digital Repository Infrastructure Vision for European Research), in close consultation with the international repository community. The aim of COAR is to provide a basis for Open Access by developing internationally compatible standards, promoting the cause for Open Access at research institutes and funding bodies and setting up activities aimed at increasing the number publications submitted to repositories. From the Netherlands not only SURF but also the Royal Library (KB) and Delft University of Technology are a member of COAR. The other founding members are from Europe, Asia and the United States.
