Digital portfolio

NL Portfolio is a Special Interest Group (SIG) on the subject of digital portfolios. NL Portfolio strives to combine, share and develop further the knowledge in the field of digital portfolios in higher education.

SURFfoundation recognises that digital portfolios are not just a tool, but rather an important and valuable building block in education innovation. As the Netherlands is a leader in this area it is NL Portfolios task to act with strength and to contribute to the knowledge on developments regarding digital portfolios. Its main activities are gathering and combining knowledge, disseminating knowledge and knowledge development.

The digital portfolio under development

Over the past years institutions for higher education in the Netherlands have gained considerable know-how on the implementation of digital portfolios. And matters such as the most efficient and effective use of digital portfolios are still under consideration. Developments such as competence management, employability and life long learning have changed the role and the meaning of the digital portfolio. There are also changes and developments taking place in functional and technological respects in the systems for digital portfolios. As a final remark it must be noted that the digital portfolio can play a role when students are studying abroad. For this reason NL portfolio seeks to link up with initiatives in other European countries.
