SURFshare has initiated the ‘expert finder’ project.
The result of this project is a tool for finding an expert based on a text input. The text input is analysed according to keywords in the text. This is technically feasible if a DAI has been assigned to the full text publications. The ‘expert finder’ should therefore offer an added stimulus for researchers to have their DAI associated with their publications.
Most of the underlying data is extracted from NARCIS, Dutch Research Database (NOD) and repositories. In collaboration with KNAW SURFshare is investigating whether the ‘expert finder’ would also be interesting for local use by the institutions. This would offer an example of getting more value out of the information present in the current information infrastructure.
