DatapluS
Scholarly Communication - SURFshare Tenders
Status: Completed
Aim
The DatapluS project involved constructing two portals and filling them with enhanced publications based on survey data. This project continued on from the Together in Parts [Samen in Delen] project [link] and had the aim of creating operational portals that can be used by researchers belonging to two large research groups. The material for the two portals was provided by the groups European Values Study (EVS, University of Tilburg) and Dutch Parliamentary Election Studies (NKO, University of Twente).
Results
The researchers enhanced the publications not only with links to the datasets and variables stored in the GESIS and DANS data archives but also with the syntax of the analyses. This code allows the reader to see the methods and analyses that were applied to the data in order to produce the results.
One important part of the project was to develop an electronic submission form, which makes it a simple matter for researchers to assemble and upload their enhanced publication. The editor used during the project to add the enhancements to the publications will also play an important role in the continuation of the portals after the end of the project.
A total of 866 publications with 32 enhancements were ultimately achieved within the EVS portal and 365 publications with 30 enhancements within the NKO portal.
