DONOR makes it possible to search, download, describe, and upload. It provides maximum access to educational research data with a minimum of effort. DONOR’s website () gives access to
  • a bibliography of files: bibliographical details of data files providing information about education;
  • the DONOR tool for uploading and downloading files. (The prototype version contains a number of examples of data files, user instructions, and a help file.)

Future

The DONOR tool has the potential to reinforce the educational research infrastructure in the Netherlands. However, it has not yet been possible to set up an ‘Expertise Centre for Dutch Educational Databases’  at the Institute for Applied Social Sciences (ITS) at Radboud University Nijmegen. (ITS specialises in social science research, policy consultancy, and knowledge transfer for the University).

DANS (Data Archiving and Networked Services) promotes new local data initiatives. It intends working with Radboud University Nijmegen to see to what extent the work of the DONOR project can be continued. The DONOR tool has also been made available to other universities that wish to store databases in their repository.
