Objective

With DIGIPUB, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences intends using a digital publication environment to initiate dialogue and knowledge dissemination between staff, students, and professionals in the sectors concerned. The University has decided on a complex, cohesive publication environment that can be developed and contributed to gradually. With this in mind, the University intends developing a knowledge platform that has a portal function to various locations including the website of the faculty’s media centre, the digital Open Access publishing house that will soon be associated with the faculty, and the digital magazine intended for contacts. The platform itself, however will also comprise content in the form of publications, a wiki, etc.

As part of their professionalization, teaching staff will “learn how to publish” within the publication environment that is created, making use of “Learning to Publish”, a digital support package that will also be developed. The project also involves setting up a professional digital publishing house – supported by robust business models and effective licences – to publish high-quality Open Access periodicals.
