Knowledge Exchange logoKnowledge Exchange (KE) is a collaborative initiative for leading national organisations in Europe to develop a coherent policy for the European higher education and research community on ICT services, complex ICT infrastructures and information flows.

The participants in Knowledge Exchange exchange information and share their knowledge and experiences. Moreover, they collaborate on developing policy and on programmes and campaigns to place certain focus areas into the spotlight. They also initiate joint projects. Knowledge Exchange also manifests itself as a central contact for other national organisations that coordinate and initiate similar activities.

The Netherlands is a relatively small country that is one of the leading countries in the field of ICT and information management. If the Netherlands intends to retain this position, it will have to be explicitly represented in new, powerful international collaborations such as Knowledge Exchange. For this reason SURF is closely involved in the realisation and development of this initiative.

The following organisations participate in Knowledge Exchange:

  • JISC - Joint Information Systems Committee, England
  • DEFF - Denmark's Electronic Research Library, Denmark
  • DFG - Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Germany
  • SURFfoundation, Netherlands

The Knowledge Exchange website provides more background information and an overview of contacts. The main offices of Knowledge Exchange are located in Copenhagen.
